Swedish Massage—
the most well–known massage for relaxation and stress elimination. Do your feet often feel cold, even in summer? Massage increases circulation. The goal of this modality is to establish and maintain the health of your entire body. I use the amount of pressure you request and spend more time on the areas that are giving you the most trouble. Swedish massage is being offered in 30, 60 and 90–minute sessions.

Deep Tissue—
a more focused massage which helps to reverse chronic muscle problems or damage from overuse or injuries by using a more intense pressure. I’ll work on the area that is bothering you most for 30 minutes. Since this is a more intense massage for the therapist to perform, it’s offered at a higher price than a 30–minute Swedish massage.

Medical Massage—
works on specific injuries and conditions. I am able to treat whiplash, chronic back pain, sprains and strains, tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome. Medical massage requires a treatment plan so you may need to visit multiple times per week for treatments.

Sports Massage—
uses techniques to stimulate muscles and warm up joints to increase flexibility in order to prevent injuries and to prepare an athlete for maximum performance. Pre–event and post–event massages have proven very beneficial to athletes. This type of massage is designed to prep you for activity without changing your body into something you’re not used to operating. Strokes used in this modality increase blood flow and invigorate your body.

Shiatsu—
a Japanese massage based on a more holistic approach to health, working with the body’s energy. Meridians exist throughout our bodies that can be affected by pressure— “palming” is the main technique. Shiatsu is performed with the client fully clothed on a mat or padded surface. In my experience, clients feel an overall sense of wellness after a session. The Kata I learned is about 50 minutes but the length of time varies by person.

Pregnancy Massage—
to encourage relaxation, decrease your stress levels and stress on weight–bearing joints. Pregnancy massage may also help decrease swelling and low back pain as well as other pains associated with pregnancy. It is generally performed while lying on your left side and with lots of pillows. If you are in your first trimester, you may lie on your stomach if you feel comfortable that way.
