What should I wear for a full body massage?
If you are scheduled to receive a full body massage, you’ll want to know that this type of massage is best performed when the client is completely undressed, though most find it most comfortable to leave their underwear on. Being massaged without any clothes on makes it possible for the therapist to massage without any elastic band or fabric interference. Massage therapists are trained to drape so that only the section we’re working on is uncovered. This is done to maximize your warmth and comfort.
I’m not comfortable with removing my undergarments. Is that alright?
It is possible to massage over what you are wearing. It is most important that you feel safe and comfortable during the massage.
What if there are certain parts of my body I don’t want massaged?
Simply tell me. Many people aren’t comfortable with certain parts of their bodies being massaged (their feet, buttocks, lower back) for whatever reason. That’s perfectly fine. Just let me know when we’re reviewing your medical history. Making sure I know your comforts is typically part of the interview before the massage so I’ll be asking you and I will not massage those areas.
Do you have any products that are good for people with allergies and sensitive skin?
Yes, I do. I use Jojoba Oil and BIOTONE lotion and gel. These are hypoallergenic and can be used on sensitive skin. Purepro reports they have never had an allergic reaction to any of their products.
How should I lie on the table?
After the pre–interview, I will leave so you so that you can get undressed and onto the table in privacy. I begin massage with my clients on their backs so when you first get on the table, you’ll be under the top sheet and looking at the ceiling with the back of your knees resting on the bolster. A bolster is a cylindrical pillow designed for your comfort which will later be placed beneath your ankles when you turn over, elevating your feet. Your face will rest in the face cradle which allows you to lie on your stomach with your head looking straight down instead of resting to one side on your cheek.
What should I do after the massage?
Take the day to relax if you can… and make sure to drink plenty of water. I will recommend the appropriate amount to you after your massage. If I give you any stretches to do, start doing those whenever you have the chance. When you care for yourself after the massage, you will have better results.
Why are you requesting that I fill out your client form?
