It’s Quality.

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Yesterday, I met with a chiropractor who practices in East Amherst and we discussed the importance of quality care.

It’s very important to provide effective treatments but to also give one’s clients ways to help their bodies improve in the days or weeks between their appointments. I recommend exercises, stretches and lifestyle change ideas to my clients at the end of every massage so that they may help themselves when they’re not at ADIO.

There are some health care professionals out there who want to keep their clients coming back to them (slower progress does mean more money for them), so they might be less effective on purpose or won’t give their clients suggestions on how to maintain or improve their bodies when they’re not in the office for treatment. This is unethical.

Massages (and adjustments, she said) work better when clients continue treatment after they leave the office.

Taking care of oneself is more than getting a massage once a week. It’s about changing your posture, doing your stretches every day, icing your wrist, or putting heat on your back while you’re watching the evening news…

It’s key to see someone who cares enough to give you those helpful suggestions and instructions. A massage therapist or chiropractor who wants you to be able to come into their office less frequently because you feel better and you won’t need to be there as often. That’s quality treatment.
